If you wish to enrol your child please ring the school to arrange an appointment. When you enrol your child for the first time, you will need their birth certificate, an emergency contact number, their immunisation certificate and any relevant information on health, medication and general development. For students who have already been enrolled in a New Zealand school, we only require contact details, including emergency, information on health etc and any other information that may be useful for our staff to know.
Enrolment Zone
Longbeach School has an enrolment zone. Please see the map here Zones
Proof of address may be required to establish whether or not a student resides in our enrolment zone.
Cohort Entry for students starting school.
Longbeach School operates a cohort entry in that students are only able to be officially enrolled (start school) at the start of each school term or at the midpoint of a term. The Ministry of Education sets these dates. Please use this link to see the dates. https://www.education.govt.nz/school/school-terms-and-holiday-dates/more-information-about-setting-term-dates/#cohort
School Visits
Students new to school olds are encouraged to visit the classroom on several occasions before they become officially enrolled. This helps make the transition from home to school smooth and secure. Please contact us well before the planned start date so that we can record your details. Then we will contact you to arrange these visits closer to each students start date.
When should I enrol my child to go to school?
Your child can start school in New Zealand between age 5 and 6. Some children benefit from starting at 6 as each child is unique. We are happy to discuss this with you if you have any questions or concerns about your child starting school.
All children must be enrolled at school by their sixth birthday.
