Welcome to Longbeach School, the home of LB Stars!
All our students are superstars, and our role is to utilise their strengths to provide exciting learning programmes. So that by the time the students graduate from Longbeach School, they are well-rounded, effective citizens ready to take on the next set of challenges at secondary school.
Our Longbeach School localised Curriculum is framed by the New Zealand Curriculum and linked to current research around what initiatives have the largest positive impact on student progress and achievement. Our team works collaboratively to best meet the educational and pastoral needs of every learner in our school. We focus on quality literacy and numeracy programmes in all classrooms and encourage an active and engaging authentic curriculum that encourages personal excellence in all learning areas.
We are fortunate here at Longbeach School, as we have very capable and committed staff and a supportive community. We work together to deliver the best outcomes for our students.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to talk to one of our staff.

About Me
With my wife Melanie, I enjoy spending time with our 3 children, Ben , Emily and Luke. We like to get out and about as a family and support whichever child has a sporting or social event.
I coach football and try to get out fishing. In the North Island I often fished in Lake Taupo and the coastal waters. Before moving south we lived very close to the beach in the Hawkes Bay
After majoring in Physical Education I graduated from Massey University and started teaching in 1996. I taught in Palmerston North before leaving Linton Camp School as the Deputy Principal to take up my first principalship in the rural community of Omakere in the Hawkes Bay.
We have been living in Ashburton since 2009 and enjoy living here because it is very friendly, has everything you need and hours of sunshine!
